Ostara

Ostara

The Goddess is alive and Magick is afoot!

Join me in invoking the ancient Germanic Goddess Ostara, who alongside of Persephone, is also a Goddess of the Springtime.  Her symbols are abundant signs of fertility in the images of the hare and ornately painted eggs.

There is not much known about Ostara (also known as Eostre) except that we honor her at the Spring Equinox and much of her symbolism has been morphed into the celebration of Easter.

One myth tells the story of the Goddess coming across a young bird that was dying of cold due to her late arrival. Ostara warmed her up and turned her into a hare.

As pagan traditions turn into modern Christian traditions, celebrations today tell how the Easter bunny hides chocolate eggs for children to find.

We rejoice in the burgeoning Springtime
Because we have waited, in the arms of the Mother
Through the season of darkness and cold

In celebration of Ostara let our hearts seek the ways of the Goddess and God, now and always.

And let our feet ever walk upon the sacred paths.

So Mote It Be!!
