Sacred Copper
Copper is the metal of the Goddess.
It is of the Divine.
It has long been associated with the planet Venus.
It is forever warm and soft and powerful in your hands. As a conductor of electricity, it melds with the human spirit when worn on our bodies and creates an energy field so potent that its magick is well known to witches.
Ancient cultures knew well the strength and ability of copper. Its healing powers span all illnesses. Working with the electrical balance of our bodies, it helps to center us, which certainly adds to the healthful cure of many painful conditions.
Even modern medicine acknowledges that in cases of rheumatism and arthritis, copper bracelets worn on the affected areas have a positive effect. My own experience is that copper is very soothing when I am sad. And that it gives me strength when I am ill.
By wearing it, I am constantly renewing my vows to the Goddess.
My first piece of copper jewelry was a tiny spiral ring given to me long ago by a sister Witch. Her own ring, which matched mine, bound us together in the kinship of true friends and sisters within the Craft.
This simply made ring held an energy that brought me deeper into my practice, and signified my beginning commitment to the Goddess. I had discovered for myself its wonderful properties and embraced its power.
Copper was then, and still is to me now, a symbol of sisterhood within the arms of the Goddess.
Many seasons have passed, years have faded and been reborn since those early days of my magickal path. Yet, copper is still a strong part of my magick and my healing.
Whenever I have faced a trying period in my life, I gravitate to my knotted and spiraling copper bracelets and feel grounded and comforted, innately powerful and able to handle any crisis.
